Real families. Real stories. Real impact.

The families who stay with us are the reason we do what we do. In their own words, here is what Ronald McDonald House South Dakota has meant to them and to the children who needed their family close. We are grateful to each of them for sharing their journey with us.

Kenna

My granddaughter was born at 24 weeks and airlifted to Sioux Falls. Her mommy stayed at Ronald McDonald House from June 2013 until the end of September 2013 until Kenna got to come home. Her daddy came every weekend and Wednesday night.

Smiling Girl

Our daughter spent 114 days in the Sanford NICU. Ronald McDonald House made us feel so safe and welcome. We called it our second home. She is now 2 years old and doing great. Thank you so much to the House staff and volunteers.

Maddux NICU baby for nearly 8 weeks early

Maddux was born 7 weeks and 5 days early. He was in the NICU for 44 days. The staff at House were so pleasant and friendly. It was so nice coming back in the evening and having someone to talk to.

My NICU babies! 5 year old big brother was in for about 80 days and 6 month old little sister was in for 9 days. So thankful for Ronald McDonald House South Dakota both times!

We spent 28 days at Ronald McDonald House in October and November of 2015. We are so thankful that we were able to be close to our son who was in the NICU. He had suffered a stroke in utero and had heart and lung issues and meningitis. He’s a healthy boy today!

RMDH made things a little easier

He is so happy! Thank you. We are so grateful for the Ronald McDonald House. We wouldn’t have been able to be with him every day. The staff was incredible. It was so nice having someone to visit with in the evenings. They definitely made things a little bit easier on us.

Twin girls born in 2017 spent 52 days in NICU.

We spent 52 days in 2017 with our twin girls.

21 years later

My daughter was 7 weeks early. We were told that they weren’t sure she was going to make it. Just 6 days after she was born, she was off the ventilator and 19 days after she was born, we got to bring her home. Thanks to Ronald McDonald House a comfortable home away from home for us while she was in the hospital. Here she is 21 years later on her first day of her junior year at college.
